German Phrasebook
Lonely Planet (1997)
A pocket phrasebook for travellers in German-speaking countries, arranged by travel situation rather than by grammar topic. Sections cover basics, transport and accommodation, meeting people, shopping, health and emergencies, with a food chapter that decodes menus and regional dishes. Every phrase appears in German alongside a simplified pronunciation guide, so the traveller can read it aloud without prior study. The book closes with a two-way dictionary of roughly three and a half thousand words for quick lookup
